Curry's Digital Film and Cinema Studies minor will prepare Media and Communication Arts majors for careers in this exciting and ever-evolving field. Students will learn hands-on production from professional filmmakers and experience the creative force of filmmaking and cinema. Non-Media and Communication Arts students can also benefit from a minor in Digital Film and Cinema Studies, as many of our courses fulfill Gen Ed requirements in the Arts, Humanities, Information Literacy Enhancement, and Reading/Writing Enhancement.

Students can study RED Camera Film Production, Digital Documentary and Movie-making, The Business of Hollywood, Screenwriting for Film and Television, African-American, Italian, and Global Cinema, Digital Video Editing, and more!

Communication and Contexts:
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication analyzing film and cinematic experiences

Creativity and Content:
Create a portfolio showcasing fluency with digital film tools, media aesthetics, and performance practices.

Theory and Application:
Apply film and media theories and basic research methods to analyze audiences, film narrative, media effects, and performance practices in historical and creative contexts.

Culture and Critique:
Explain how film and cinema engender and engage ideas about race, gender, sexuality, class, religion, and national identity.
