"Our Diversity Center is a safe, vibrant community where every voice is valued, and every perspective is welcomed.”

The Diversity Center at Curry College is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable community where all students, faculty, and staff feel valued and empowered. We strive to promote cultural awareness, support underrepresented voices, and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Through education, advocacy, and outreach, we aim to enhance the educational experience and cultivate a campus culture that embraces diversity in all its forms.

Our Initiatives

The Diversity Center offers a wide range of services and activities to help students grow, connect, and succeed:

  • Facilitating Discussions: Hosting events that encourage open conversations around important social issues, diversity, and inclusion.
  • DEI Programming: Workshops and events focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that challenge assumptions and broaden perspectives.
  • One-on-One Advising: Personalized support for navigating the college experience, particularly for students from underrepresented groups.
  • Dedicated Spaces for Students of Color: Safe and supportive spaces where students of color can connect, share experiences, and receive support.
  • Resources for First-Generation Students: A comprehensive support system for first-gen students, from the moment they step on campus to their graduation day.
  • LGBTQIA+ Support: Affirmative programming and resources designed to support and celebrate LGBTQIA+ students and allies.
  • Faith-Based Programming: Opportunities for spiritual growth and faith exploration within a diverse community.
  • Training Workshops: Skill-building workshops focused on topics like bias, microaggressions, and cultural competence.

We encourage students to engage with our initiatives and join us in creating a community that celebrates the richness of our differences and the strength they bring to our collective experience.

Vision

Our vision is to be a transformative space at Curry College that inspires individuals to embrace diversity as a strength and a source of innovation. We envision a campus where every member of the community celebrates their unique identity, engages in respectful conversations, and contributes to a vibrant, inclusive environment. By championing social justice and equity, we aim to prepare our students to thrive in a diverse world and become leaders for positive change in their communities.

About the Diversity Center

The Diversity Center (DC) is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Center. Upon entering, you'll be welcomed by our friendly student workers. Students often stop by to check the bulletin board for events, grab a snack or hot beverage, and relax on our large bean bags. We also have a mini-library with books on current events, and a space to enjoy time with friends, watch TV, or take a nap.

The DC serves as both an academic study and student meeting space. Students can use designated areas between classes to work on assignments, study for exams, or gather for group work. The room includes a small conference table, TV, and bookshelf, along with resources for exploring intersectionality and inclusion.

Additionally, our staff offices are centrally located, housing the Director of the Diversity Center and the Assistant Vice President of Engagement and Diversity, who are here to support you during your time at Curry College.

First Generation Students

Supporting first-generation students begins before they arrive on campus and continues through graduation and beyond.

Brother to Brother

Brother to Brother is a group developed to provide a space for Black & Brown Men to discuss and express their views, which are socially and politically significant. Brother to Brother seeks to support and strengthen the bond among community members by sharing the common and diverse experiences of Black & Brown Men. We intend to provide positive male role models, and unique events and strengthen the bond among men of color on campus.
