Massachusetts Department of Higher Education logoQuinn Bill Certified: Curry College Criminal Justice programs are Police Career Incentive Pay Program (PCIPP) certified by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. The PCIPP Program, also known as the Quinn Bill, was enacted by the Massachusetts Legislature to encourage police officers to earn degrees in law enforcement and criminal justice. It provides educational incentives for regular full-time officers in participating cities and towns through salary increases.

Online 5th Year Master's Degree Option

We offer a new, fully online 5th year Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program where undergraduate students take graduate coursework in their senior year, and can finish both degrees in five years. Go Beyond the Classroom

Research - In the past, students have presented their research at the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences conference, as well as co-authored pieces with faculty members. Through the capstone project and other opportunities, students are able to delve into a topic of their choice to further their knowledge.

Internships - Recent internship locations include the Boston Police Department, COMPASS Alternative School, District Attorney Victim Advocacy Unit, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Governor’s Office, and more.

The Criminology and Criminal Justice major provides the opportunity to systematically examine criminal justice systems and the administration of justice, analyzing the causes and patterns of crime and criminal behavior and the ways in which institutional responses address these social problems. The curriculum emphasizes social justice and the promotion of human rights throughout the globe. Criminology and Criminal Justice courses highlight practical problem solving using research, theory, and analytic skills relevant to careers in criminal justice, legal studies, community and social service.

1. Administration of Justice and Public Policy:
Examine and evaluate elements of the criminal justice system and the social and ethical responses to crime. Critique criminal justice institutional responses from a theoretical, practical, and ethical perspective.

2. Research, Theory and Evaluation:
Recognize and articulate the necessity of theory and ethical  research in the development of criminal justice policy.

3. Social Justice, Diversity, and Inclusion:
Evaluate the essential role of power and social capital and articulate the significance of diversity and inclusion in the criminal justice system.

4. Professional Readiness:
Demonstrate readiness to transition to professional or higher education  endeavors.

Maizie Hill '25 Transforms Self-Doubt into Distinguished Achievement through Crime Research Program at UNC

Maizie Hill '25, a double major in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Transformative Justice, was recently selected to participate in a 10-week Data Science and Crime Analytics program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This highly competitive program, supported by the National Science Foundation, allowed Hill the unique opportunity to work alongside an interdisciplinary team of researchers, exploring pressing issues in crime analytics.
