Curry College Faculty and Staff meet in the Faculty Center collaboration room

Encouraging Professional Development and Curriculum Innovation

At Curry College, professors have access to the latest developments to support their teaching, research, and other innovations.

The Faculty Center opened in 2011 with support from the President and Trustees of Curry College and a grant from the  Davis Educational Foundation, established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis's retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.

With a flexible, technology-enabled Collaboration Room, an Innovation Lab, and access to expert consultants and programs on Curriculum and Course Design, Teaching, Instructional Technology, Grant-writing, Research and Scholarship, the Faculty Center's programs and services help faculty stay on the cutting edge, making the Curry College experience dynamic and innovative for their students.

Our mission is to engage faculty in diverse and effective professional development experiences, in anticipation of and response to faculty and institutional goals. We do this by offering the following programs, services, and initiatives to Curry College faculty:

  • Collaborative consultations with faculty on innovative approaches to teaching, research/scholarship, service, and leadership.

  • On-site opportunities to explore and learn (including emergent technologies), collaborate (in flexible, multi-use spaces), and explore (through both structured and open time).

  • Dissemination and networking of effective faculty practices and new ideas among individuals, academic areas, the College, and the Higher Education community.

  • Ongoing assessment of our effectiveness through multiple sources and kinds of evidence to improve and shape future work of the Center.
