Academic ExcellenceDr. Stephanie Walker joined the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry in 2016. Dr. Walker in broadly trained in biochemistry and cell biology, with a B.A. in Biochemistry from Wells College and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from Cornell University. Her graduate work focused on the regulation of phospholipase D, an important enzyme in lipid signaling, and cellular transformation. She completed postdoctoral training in cell biology at Harvard Medical School with an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship, studying the connection between cell polarity and proliferation.
Dr. Walker comes to Curry with over 10 years of experience in undergraduate research and education, teaching a variety of chemistry and biology courses at Simmons College, as a well as a general education course on women's health and leadership. Dr. Walker joined Curry during an exciting time of growth in the biochemistry program and engages her students in research-integrated courses.
