Laura McMinn brings to Curry a synthesis of thirty years of experience in the fields of research, psychology, and education in working with students and their families. She is professionally licensed and both director and teacher certified in Pre-K. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Gordon College and holds an Elementary Education certification, K-2. She received a Master of Education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from Lesley University.
Her collaboration on language acquisition and cerebral specialization at the Neurolinguistics Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital led to published research in the journal of Brain and Language. In the field of education, Laura has accomplished post graduate training in differentiated instruction, and Social Thinking. She has also earned her AACC from the ADD Coach Academy.
Over the past eight years Laura has segued from classroom teaching to a more concentrated focus on her role as an individual and family educator. Her comprehensive understanding of child development paired with her unique expertise across fields has allowed Laura to create a metacognitively-based practice. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and the families who support them. This methodology includes educating families on how their student learns best and by helping students develop self-awareness as well as strategies that build self-confidence, momentum, and success, especially around executive function.
