TOPICS:

Academics | Student Success

On January 28, the new Curry College Learning Commons, featuring the state-of-the-art Science and Research Center, opened in its first phase. The Learning Commons provides exciting new collaborative space that supports all Curry students, with Advising and Academic Success offices operating in one centralized space in the heart of the Academic Quad, making them fully integrated into the learning experience. Our innovative Active Learning Classrooms host a wide range of classes from First-Year Inquiry to Advanced Physiology, new study space is available, and students are now meeting and working together and with faculty in the Student Collaboration Space.

The Learning Commons is an example of Curry’s commitment to offering the most advanced resources available to support student success, and this commitment is exemplified by the dedicated science and laboratory space that anchors the Learning Commons.

The Science and Research Center at the Learning Commons

The new, innovative Science and Research Center at the Learning Commons is a facility that includes Chemistry, Physics, and Biology labs, which will take student experimentation and research to a completely new level. Along with an enhanced classroom experience, science students now have the advantage of more meaningful one-on-one and small group interactions with faculty members for research projects, preparing them for real world settings. These new spaces also come with the tools to support this learning, including the latest in laboratory and data analysis equipment. Curry’s forward focus on the sciences was the key driving force in the development of this new facility.
